Welcome to the South Bowie Boys & Girls Club Basketball Program!
Get ready to hit the court with the South Bowie Sharks!
Our basketball program is dedicated to providing young athletes with an exciting, positive, and supportive environment where they can learn, develop, and grow both on and off the court.
Our mission is to teach basketball fundamentals while promoting teamwork, discipline, leadership, respect, good character, and sportsmanship.
Whether your child is new to basketball or looking to improve their skills, our program offers opportunities to build confidence, develop friendships, and experience the excitement of being part of the Sharks family!

Our youth basketball program focuses on developing individual skills, teamwork, and a strong understanding of the game.

Our Squirts Basketball Program introduces younger athletes to the excitement of basketball through an age-appropriate, fun, and engaging experience.
Program highlights:*3v3 basketball format*8-foot baskets*Introduction to dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork*Development of coordination and motor skills*Positive coaching in a fun and supportive environment*BASKETBALL BUILDS SKILLS FOR LIFE!
Basketball helps young athletes develop coordination, agility, balance, endurance, and decision-making skills that benefit them in everyday activities and other sports.
LEAGUE INFORMATIONSouth Bowie Sharks Basketball teams will participate in league play in Prince George’s County or Anne Arundel County.
Important: Athletes participating in Prince George’s County league play must have a Maryland State ID or a yellow identification card issued by PGC BGC.

How much does registration cost?Youth Basketball (Ages 8–14): $225Squ irts 3v3 Co-Ed (Ages 5–8): $170, uniform included What league will the Sharks compete in?Teams will participate in basketball leagues located in Prince George’s County or Anne Arundel County.League placement and additional information will be communicated by the Basketball Commissioner.
Where will games be played?Games will take place at designated basketball facilities in Prince George’s County or Anne Arundel County, depending on league placement.Game locations and schedules will be provided once finalized.
When does the basketball season begin?Practice schedules, season start dates, and game schedules will be communicated to registered families once finalized.
How often will teams practice?Practice schedules will be determined by the coaching staff and facility availability.Families will receive practice information from their assigned coaches.
Are uniforms included in registration?Uniforms are included in the $170 registration fee for the Squirts 3v3 program.Uniform requirements and any additional deposits for the Youth Basketball Program will be communicated before the season begins.
Does my child need basketball experience?Absolutely not!We welcome athletes of all skill levels, from beginners learning the fundamentals to experienced players looking to improve their skills.
What identification is required?Athletes participating in Prince George’s County league play must have a Maryland State ID or a yellow identification card issued by PGC BGC.Additional requirements, if applicable, will be communicated to families.
Are volunteer coaches needed?YES! South Bowie Boys & Girls Club welcomes dedicated volunteers who are passionate about mentoring young athletes.All volunteer coaches must complete the required background checks and applicable coaching certifications or clinics before participating.If you are interested in coaching, please contact the Basketball Commissioner.
