INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the South Bowie Boys & Girls Club Basketball Program!
Get ready to hit the court with the South Bowie Sharks!
South Bowie Boys & Girls Club Squirts Basketball Program is designed to introduce young players to the fundamentals of basketball in a fun, supportive and developmentally appropriate environment.
Our Squirts program features a 3-on-3 basketball league, giving everyplayer more opportunities to handle the ball, shoot, pass, defend andactively participate in practices and games.
Why 3-on-3 Basketball?We believe young athletes develop their skills best when they areactively involved in the game.
Our 3-on-3 format provides:* More Ball Touches: With fewer players on the court, every child hasmore opportunities to handle the basketball.* Improved Shooting Fundamentals: Baskets are lowered to 8 feet tohelp players develop proper shooting form, confidence, and technique.* Greater Player Participation: Smaller teams encourage every playerto contribute offensively and defensively.* Skill Development: Players receive more opportunities to practicedribbling, passing, shooting, teamwork, and decision-making.* A Positive Learning Environment: Our focus is on teachingfundamentals, building confidence, and developing a love forbasketball.
Practice Schedule:Wednesdays | 6:00 PM–8:00 PMLocation: City of Bowie Gymnasium
Each Squirts team will be assigned a one-hour practice within theWednesday evening time block.
Additional Practice Opportunity: If gym space is available, teams maypractice twice per week for one hour per session. The second practicewould take place on another weekday at a local elementary school.Additional practices are subject to facility availability andscheduling.
Game Schedule:Saturdays | 2:30 PM–6:30 PM City of Bowie Gymnasium
All Squirts games will take place on the same court used for Wednesdaypractices. Teams will be assigned game times within the Saturdayafternoon schedule. All games will be officiated by a paid official.
Our Philosophy:At SBBGC, our goal is not simply to teach children how to playbasketball. We want to help them develop confidence, learn teamwork,improve their skills, and enjoy being part of a team.
By combining smaller teams, age-appropriate basket heights, andincreased player involvement, we create an environment where youngathletes can learn, grow, and succeed.
Cost:Squirts is $175 per player and it includes a uniform they can keep.We offer multi-child discounts and coaches discounts for those who arewilling to volunteer to coach.

Our program emphasizes fundamentals, teamwork, sportsmanship,discipline, and player development in a positive and supportiveenvironment.
Program Overview:Ages: 8–14 years oldRegistration Fee: $225 per playerLeague Locations: Prince George's County and Anne Arundel CountyPractices: Twice per week, one hour per sessionTeam Rosters: We strive to limit teams to 12 players to maximizeparticipation and development.
Practices and Game SchedulesAll teams practice twice per week for one hour per session. Practicedays, times and locations will be communicated once teams and gymassignments are finalized.
Prince George's County League:* Games are played on Saturday afternoons.* You will need a Maryland State Non Drivers License ID to play or ayellow card.
Anne Arundel County League* Games are played throughout the day on Saturdays.* 14U Division: Games are played on Sunday afternoons.
League placement and game schedules will be communicated to familiesonce team assignments are finalized.
