  • INTRODUCTION
  • Welcome to the South Bowie Boys & Girls Club Basketball Program. This program is dedicated to serving our youth ages 5-14. Our mission is to teach, develop, organize, manage and offer youth players the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of basketball while instilling life-lessons and values such as character, team work, discipline, respect and sportsmanship. COMMISSIONER: Dez Parks: basketball@southbowiesharks.org Squirts Squirts (Boys & Girls) 5 to 7 years old. AAYBL Boys & girls ages 7 to 14 years old. REGISTRATION IS CLOSED Registration Squirts: $150 AAYBL: $190 Q & A's What league do the SHARKS compete in? Leagues we participate in include Anne Arundel Youth Sports Association (AAYSA). Winter and Spring basketball. Spring depends on interest and coaches. What are the dates for the season? AYSA winter season begins in December through February AAYSA spring season begins in March through May What clubs do we play against? We typically play against any Club that is a member of the AAYSA. Where do we play our games? Most games are played over the weekend. The location will be determined by Anne Arundel Youth Sports Association (AAYSA). All Squirts games are played on Sundays at the Bowie City Gym. How many games are there? Most AAYSA teams play a minimum of 8 games. If a team makes the playoffs, there can be as many as 13 games. Squirts usually play a minimum of 3-5 games. How often is practice and where do they take place? Squirts teams practice on Sunday before their game. AAYSA teams usually practice for 2 days a week for up to two hours. Practices are at schools throughout Bowie and surrounding areas and at the Bowie City Gym.

  • IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN COACHING, YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE A BACKGROUND CHECK DONE AND ATTEND A COACH’S CLINIC THROUGH THE COUNTY. You will need the background check done BEFORE the season starts. We are always in need of coaches!
