INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the South Bowie Boys & Girls Club (SBBGC) Lacrosse. We are dedicated to serving our youth ages 5-14. The goal for each season is to teach the fundamentals of lacrosse (cradle, scoop, pass, catch, and shoot the ball), encourage physical fitness, promote teamwork, and develop character.
Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins in a tribal game played by eastern Woodlands indigenous peoples and by some Plains Indians tribes in what is now the United States of America and Canada.
SBBGC currently plays in the Anne Arundel County Parks & Rec league, but previously played with Prince George’s Youth Lacrosse League (PGYLL) along with the Southern Maryland Lacrosse Association. This Spring will complete South Bowie’s 6th full season for its lacrosse program.
All SBBGC coaches are required to complete the American Sports Education Program (ASEP) training and must successfully pass a background check to coach for SBBGC Lacrosse. Team parents are also required to successfully pass a background check.
